The Making of a Movie

May 2008!

Well, here we are. It is now May 2008, and we finally have a full plot that I think both authors are happy with. I think that the plot came together rather nicely in the end. However, we still have a good amount of editing and lengthening to do on the script. I am - for myself - really happy with the work that went into the script, and how it has turned out. I am now just ready to finalize it - or as much as we can, and start really working on the film!

That is really all I have to say, besides seconding that which Caiti said in her new post. I am getting really excited about how far we have come, and how wonderful I feel the end product will be.

SCRIIIIIIIIIPT!!!

So, thanks to Ami finally getting tired of how long I've been taking to do the script... WE HAVE A FINISHED COPY OF THE SCRIPT!!! YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!! *high five!*

Don't get toooooooooooo excited, though. We still have the process of actually editing the whole creature, and trying to blend our writing styles and all that! The first 20 or so pages seem pretty good, at least!

Still, we've FINALLY got a first draft!!! WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOA!!! I approve.

In other news, the chain maille is still in progress, the costumes are being worked on, and (to my knowledge) neither one of us knows how to actually operate a camera for filming a real movie. Yet. If anyone wants to write us a script that we can film, then PLEASE DO!!!!!!!!!! I know I'd love to get more people involved in this as well, but we should probably edit a bit first. Phooey. Well, we'll keep working. GO TEAM AVINE!!!

Cheers!

Almost one year later.

Well, to all of our loving readers: It has almost been one year since our last blog post, and you would be so surprised at how little has gotten done since that time. However, it is not completely our faults, only in some small fraction. Caiti and I are now in college, and the fact that we go to two colleges that are about 16 hours apart has not helped the creative process much. However, last night, we really buckled down, and began to hack our way through the script. We mainly focused on refining the part off the script that Caiti had already written, and I must say it's coming along beautifully. We added in a plot, simply because I am a hopeless romantic, and Caiti is nice enough to humor me at times, but I think - in the end - we both really like the added plotline, because it helped us develop some of the characters a little bit better. Now, however, we are in a bit of a jam with the plot. We cannot come up with an ending that will satisfy both the viewers and the authors. We have a few ideas, but many of them seem too cliche, and others too depressing. We're working on finding a good balance of the two. I don't know how much more of the play we will work on today, but as we stayed up until 4:30 working on it last night, Caiti is still sleeping, and I decided that was a good time to update this blog, letting you know that we WILL be continuing the work on the script, costuming, and (eventually) filming of this untitled film. I will try to keep up with this better, along with the work of making the film itself, and hopefully we will be able to say that the script is complete in the not-too-distant future. I will continue to work on costumes this semmester, although one is so almost done that it kind of kills me that I still haven't just finished the thing. Well, what can you do? Thanks for reading, and we'll keep you updated.

It's Been Awhile...

So, the chainmaille is STILL not complete, although it's getting pretty close, no locations have been scouted, the script is missing pieces (LARGE pieces), and the costumes have yet to have a single one finished, BUT! We still have hope! This project has become a much more long-term sort of goal than first anticipated. Due to the fact that I'm not in college and Ami's in her senior year going through all the insanity of senior exit, APs, and applications that I was doing the last time this was updated, we've really gotten very little done. Today I sent Ami an e-mail begging her to make me finish the script this summer. I would like to think that it will get done before I finish this semester so we could have the whole summer to work on it, but I know better than to believe so. It's getting slowly worked on (part of the time on the train down from Boston to A-ville was spent with the script), but it will most likely not be completed before the end of May. Hopefully some of the costumes will be done by then. I've learned the valuable skill of drafting patterns and properly padding dress forms to the appropriate human shape, so they should turn out decently. We've gotten a few new weapons (Avarielle may have a rapier instead of a broadsword...) but little other progress has been made. Fear not! It will be completed. The only question at this point is when I'll stop being lazy and finish the first draft of the script so we have something to work with... Wish me luck!

Cheers!

p.s. I know this blog is going out to the void read by only Ami and myself, but it's GOING to give us the motivation to finish what we've started. I have faith.

SO LITTLE DONE!

so... it must be said that i have TOTALLY been slacking off. the dress i'm working on is not even complete. this is mainly because i have WAY TOO MUCH going on right now. anyway... i just thought i'd let all you guys that are following this so closely(wink wink) know that that's what is going on. Caiti on the other hand has gone CRAZY (in a good way) with cainmaille. so... maybe we'll have some cool pics for ya soon! ttyl

Chainmaille

Not much to report recently, but thanks to watching the Olympics on TV, large bits of the chainmaille that Avarielle will be wearing for most of the movie have gotten done. My hands are unhappy with me for that fact, but they're getting more tolerant of working on it for long periods of time. Most of the neckline is finished, so I'm going to go try to get it all the was done as a break from the huge amounts of homework and scholarship applications that are eating all of my waking hours.

Cheers!
